CONSULTANTS RECEIVED By Joe Pearson at 10:24 am,Aug 13, 2021 August 2,2021 Joe Pearson Alabama Department of Environmental Management UST Corrective Action Section Groundwater Branch 1400 Coliseum Boulevard Montgomery,Alabama 36110 RE: Workplan and Cost Proposal Number 35 for Monitoring Well Abandonment United Food and Fuel No.3 2051 Bell Street Montgomery,Alabama Facility ID No. 12899-101-009493 Incident No.UST13-12-01 PPM Project No.20114602.MWA Dew Mr. Pearson: Per your letter dated May 28,2021,PPM Consultants,Inc.(PPM)has prepared this workplan and associated Cost Proposal No. 35 for abandoning twenty nine 2-inch diameter Type II monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-29) and three 4-inch diameter Type II groundwater recovery wells(RW-1, RW-2,and RW-3) at the above-referenced site. The locations of the wells are shown in Figure 1, Site Map,Attachment A. All of the wells will be abandoned in accordance with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) guidelines and Administration Code R. 335-6-15- .29(8). Abandonment activities will be performed under the supervision of a PPM geologist. Abandonment of the monitoring wells will consist of over drilling the well casing and screen at each location to total depth and then tremie-grouting the boring with a cement/bentonite grout. The drill cuttings and well materials will be placed in a roll-off container and transported to a certified landfill for proper disposal. An estimated total of 89 feet of casing and screen of 4-inch diameter Type II recovery wells and 880 feet of casing and screen of 2-inch Type 11 will be over drilled to total depth and grouted.
