Trip Report:
On July 17, 2002 Joe Gibson, Matt Thomas, Dixie Beatty and I traveled to Huntsville,Alabama to perform
surface water and sediment sampling for West Huntsville Cleaners and John Blue Company. We arrived at
Huntsville Water Treatment Plant-at.1445. Behind the plant is Huntsville Spring Branch were we took
sample SW/SD-HSB-05 at 1510. We then traveled to an unnamed tributary that flowed under Bob Wallace
Avenue and First Street and then behind a car dealership. Sample SW/SD-UNT-09 was taken from the
tributary behind the dealership at 1615. At the intersection of Bob Wallace and First Street,sample SW/SD-
UNT-10 was taken at 1710. - -- , -
On July 18,2002 we arrived at Huntsville City Schools at 1011. To the left of the school,sample SW-MMB-
06 was taken in Merrimac Branch at 1020. The next sample location of Merrimac Branch was located behind
Millstream Apartments. Sample SW-MMB-07 was taken at 1055. No sediments were taken at these two
sample locations due to Merrimac's rock bottom No sediments were identified within 500 feet of the sample
locations. Sample SW-MMB-08 was taken at 1110. The sample location was Crossroad Center at the
intersection of Bob Wallace and Traina Boulevard. Sediments were not taken at this sample location due to
the concrete lined drainage way.
